LABRADOR MARINE REINTRODUCES RESTRICTIONS ON STRAIT OF BELLE ISLE SERVICE
IN WAKE OF COVID-19 SURGE
As a result of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador returning to Alert Level 5 in response to a surge the number of COVID-19 cases, Labrador Marine Inc. will reintroduce passenger restrictions on the Strait of Belle Isle Service.
The restrictions are effective Monday, Feb 15th and will remain in place until such time as further direction is given by the Chief Medical Officer of Health.
In order to protect passengers and our crew, Labrador Marine has implemented more frequent sanitizing and cleaning on board the vessel.
“These measures are necessary to protect against the spread of the easily transmitted UK variant of COVID-19,” says LMI president and CEO Peter Woodward. “Labrador Marine provides an essential service between Labrador and the island. It is imperative that we do everything possible to ensure the continuity of the service so that people can travel when necessary and that food and other goods can be delivered to meet local needs.”
Labrador Marine may need to implement additional public health measures as public health guidance evolves. Monitor the Labrador Marine website for updates and any changes to current policy. If you are travelling and have any questions or concerns, please contact our onboard staff immediately.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.
