STRAIT OF BELLE ISLE FERRY SERVICE ADOPTING FALL SCHEDULE
(Happy Valley-Goose Bay) - Labrador Marine Inc., (LMI) operator of the Strait of Belle Isle ferry service, reminded travellers today that the fall schedule will come into effect on Tuesday, September 14. With the peak summer travel season concluded, there are reduced sailings during the fall. Travellers should consult the schedule at www.labradormarine.com or www.gov.nl.ca for full details. LMI has resumed food service on the Qajaq W. Food offerings consist of sandwiches, fruit, vegetable snacks, hot and cold beverages, as well as breakfast items such as packaged cereal and oatmeal. Beverage and snack vending machines are also provided for the convenience of travellers. In line with federal and provincial public health guidelines, LMI had suspended all food and beverage services, including the operation of vending machines at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020. “We are delighted to resume the food service and to offer this additional convenience to the hundreds of people who use the service daily,” says LMI General Manager Capt. Austin Daley. “We appreciate the cooperation and patience of our passengers in following the various public health measures that we put in place during the pandemic. Because of that high level of cooperation, we have operated this essential service in a safe and effective manner. We ask for people’s continued cooperation.” LMI also announced that the Qajaq W will remain in service on the Strait of Belle Isle route through the fall and winter. The vessel was removed from service in December 2020 to carry out required maintenance. For further information, contact: Capt. Austin Daley General Manager of Labrador Marine Inc.
