Last Food Delivery 2019

Kamutik W leaves Goose Bay with remaining north coast food shipment

(Happy Valley-Goose Bay) – The Kamutik W departed Goose Bay this afternoon with the remaining food shipments for north coast communities. The vessel is carrying a full load of 55 containers and 1200 pallets. The vessel will stop at all ports north to Nain, starting with Rigolet on Friday evening.

The remaining freight at the terminal in Goose Bay is general cargo, consisting of items such as building supplies and snowmobiles. Captain Austin Daley reports that weather conditions are expected to be favourable for the next several days. It is anticipated that the Kamutik W will arrive back in Goose Bay mid-next week and prepare for the next trip north.

“Our entire LMI crew and our shore support team have worked hard to meet our commitment to have all food supplies delivered to the north coast before the end of the season,” said LMI President and CEO Peter Woodward. “We understand the importance of the marine service to the north coast.”
LMI has also addressed concerns about replacement of some food items that were damaged after being dropped at Makkovik in advance of a recent hurricane-force storm.

“We have been in contact with most, if not all customers who were impacted,” says Woodward. “Labrador Marine will honour all claims related to the incident and will ensure that replacement goods are shipped prior to the end of this season.”
