LABRADOR MARINE STATEMENT - DOCKING AT BLANC SABLON; BELLA DESGAGNES IS IN PORT
Labrador Marine Inc., which operates the Qajaq W on the Strait of Belle Isle service, learned yesterday that a crewmember on the Quebec North Shore vessel Bella Desgagnes had tested positive for COVID-19. Both vessels share docking facilities at Blanc Sablon. The Bella Desgagnes makes one weekly stop at Blanc Sablon, on Fridays. LMI made an early crossing to Blanc Sablon on Friday, October 2 and had departed on the return trip to St. Barbe before the Bella Desgagnes arrived in port. LMI has learned that the Bella Desgagnes will not allow crew to depart the vessel while at Blanc Sablon and will not permit anyone to board. This will not impact LMI operations. However, out of an abundance of caution, LMI will not dock the Qajaq W at Blanc Sablon until the Bella Desgagnes has departed. LMI is following all public health advice in relation to COVID-19. The company appreciates the efforts that commercial and private passengers have made to keep the service operating in a safe manner. Please consult LMI’s website for the latest travel and public health information. For further information, contact: Peter Woodward LMI President and CEO (709) 896-2421 Comments are closed.
